Team overview

Jersey Juniors is the top-ranked club in NJ participating in the GEVA Region of USA Volleyball.  We offer girls travel teams in the 11U to 18U age groups and typically have 2-3 teams at each level. 

Our club offers 3 levels of play: National, Regional and Local.  Please read below for more information on each group.

2023/24 Tryouts

Players & Parents will receive an email 3 days prior to tryouts confirming the time and location.  Each team will include 10-11 Players.

- Tryouts held in Aug/Sept/Oct each year (details below). 
- Check in begins 30m prior to each session.
- Parent Meeting last 20m of each session.
- Spectators are not permitted in the gym.

Fees:

• Open Gym: $20 (Paid in Cash at the door)
• Tryouts: $40 (Paid in Cash at the door)

MAKEUP TRYOUTS
***If Necessary.  Makeup tryouts will only be held for unfilled teams.**

– 5 Month Season (December-April)
– Team Structure: 10-11 players/team (based on tryout performance)
– Cost includes tournament entry fees, practice time, coaching & uniforms.  Hotel cost not included.
– Tournament Play (selected from the following):

• GEVA Single Day Tournaments (Dates TBD)
• MLK Tournament, Richmond, VA (MLK Weekend)
• Florida Fest, Fort Lauderdale, FL (Late January)
• Capitol Classic, Washington, DC (Presidents Day Weekend)
• NEQ, Philadelphia, PA (March)
• USAV Nationals GJNC, TBD (April)

– 7 Month Season (December-June/July)
– Team Structure: 10-11 players/team (based on tryout performance)
– Cost includes tournament entry fees, practice time, coaching & uniforms.  Hotel cost not included.
– Tournament Play (selected from the following):

• GEVA Single Day Tournaments (Dates TBD)
• GEVA Power League (1st or 2nd Weekend of January)
• MLK Tournament, Richmond, VA (MLK Weekend)
• Capitol Classic, Washington, DC (Presidents Day Weekend)
• NEQ, Philadelphia, PA (Easter Weekend or Palm Sunday Weekend)
• Sunshine Qualifier, Orlando, FL (Early March)
  • 13s do not participate (14s-17s Only)
• USAV Nationals GJNC, TBD (June/July TBD for National Teams or Regional Teams who qualify for Nationals)

– 5 Month Season (December-April)
– Team Structure: 10-11 players/team (based on tryout performance)
– Cost includes tournament entry fees, practice time, coaching & uniforms.  Hotel cost not included.
– Tournament Play (selected from the following):

• GEVA Single Day Tournaments (Dates TBD)
• MLK Tournament, Richmond, VA (MLK Weekend)
  • No 12U or 13U Regional Teams
• Capitol Classic, Washington, DC (Presidents Day Weekend)
  • No 13U Regional Teams
• NEQ, Philadelphia, PA (Easter Weekend or Palm Sunday Weekend)

Local Teams are structured for athletes who want to improve their skills, but play other sports or cannot commit to the full club season.

– 4 Month Season (Players can participate in one or both seasons)

• Winter Season (December-March)

– Team Structure: 7-9 players/team
– Cost includes tournament entry fees, practice time, coaching & uniforms
– Tournament Play (selected from the following):

• Single Day Tournaments (Dates TBD)

Team Fee (Additional Info)

• Fee includes coaching, gym time, uniforms and all tournament fees.  
• The fee does not include hotel rooms for overnight tournaments or travel costs.
• All players must register independently with USAV for insurance purposes ($75 per year).

• Non-Refundable Down Payment due upon acceptance of invitation

Mission

Our volleyball club is dedicated to the following goals:

(1) To develop volleyball fundamentals and an understanding of team strategy
(2) To prepare our athletes for competition at the club, high school and collegiate level
(3) To educate our athletes on fitness and nutritional techniques for sports and life

We want our players to have the opportunity to find friendship and a passion for athletics through volleyball. We want them to understand the benefits of competition and learn how to achieve goals through teamwork, dedication and pursuit of a common goal.

Coaching Philosophy

• We have developed a coaching philosophy that emphasizes fundamentals through high repetition drills. All players, regardless of position, are expected to execute the skills of passing, serving, setting and hitting.
• We believe that players can only improve if they are given the opportunity to play in matches.
• We teach college level offensive and defensive systems based on the strengths of each team.
• We believe that in order to achieve their maximum potential, players must improve their physical strength through plyometric exercises, strength training and proper nutrition. This improvement will be measured and tracked in a quantifiable manner.
• We perform extensive self scouting and statistical analysis, using the information to identify potential areas of improvement.
